A small clarification: All the music links on the site and tracks used on the video lessons are used in order to expose the viewers to different kinds of music and encourage them to buy music, based on the belief that broadening the musical horizons and becoming familiar with new music styles through the internet is beneficial to the music industry, as well as musicians and the site's users. BDB supports buying original music. We will remove or replace any link if the musician or rights owner will ask us to do so.
The structure of this course is different from the normal linear process that goes from easy to difficult, and is built in a way that every lesson deals with one movement, from it's basic structure to more complicated uses of it. It's built that way in order to help you get the feeling of dancing and not only "learning moves" right from lesson #1. But, it means that you should take it slowly, be patient and dedicate some time for practice after every lesson before you watch the next one.
As I say in the introduction video, technique is very important and you should practice a lot, but you should also remember that grasping how the movements are done is what enables us to dance freely, and is not the goal itself. Doing great shimmies is great only if you use it to dance and enjoy. Although this kind of teaching films often emphasize the movement technique, you must always bear in mind that belly dance encompasses an entire world of expression and emotion, and does not boil down to merely a combination of attractive moves.
To help you get to know the great world of belly dance, we added to every lesson a recommendation of a video clip with some explanations about the dancer or the style, and a recommendation of a musician, so you can easily find music to listen, practice and dance to.
You will find great joy in belly dance for sure!
